Did You Catch These New Rolex Oyster Perpetuals in Black and Blue?

When Rolex unveiled its latest Oyster Perpetual collection at Watches and Wonders 2025, most of the spotlight landed on the new pastel dials: lavender, pistachio, and beige. These soft, matte-finished colours dominated the brand’s promotional materials and early media coverage.

But tucked quietly alongside them were updates to two of the collection’s most familiar options: black and blue. Rolex didn’t highlight them on its homepage or in any of its high-profile campaigns—but they’re worth noting, particularly for anyone drawn to a more low-key version of the OP.

A Cleaner Look for Two Familiar Dials

The black and blue Oyster Perpetual dials aren’t new in colour, but their execution is. Rolex has swapped the previous sunray finishes for smooth lacquer dials—glossier, flatter, and far less reflective. While not fully matte like the pastels, they read sharper and more modern on the wrist.

It’s a small shift, but one that suits the OP’s stripped-back design. As Rolex’s simplest time-only model, the move to a smoother dial surface just makes sense. It cuts the fuss. Personally, I think the lacquer finish is a step up from the old sunburst texture. I still lean towards the pastel matte dials overall, but this new treatment works well.

Both the black and blue lacquer dials are now available across the full OP size range: 28mm, 31mm, 34mm, 36mm, and 41mm.

A Case Tweak for the OP 41

While the smaller sizes got dial updates only, the 41mm model received an additional change under the radar. According to Rolex, the case has been “subtly revised” and now includes a slimmer Oysterclasp. The reference has shifted from 124300 to 134300.

We haven’t yet had the chance to compare the outgoing and updated 41mm versions side-by-side, but it’s on our list. Case adjustments from Rolex tend to be minor in appearance but intentional in feel—expect marginal differences that will only stand out to experienced eyes (or wrists).

Final Thoughts: Versatile, Quietly Updated, and Likely Available

The Oyster Perpetual remains one of Rolex’s more approachable offerings. While the pastel dials have generated the biggest buzz this year, these black and blue versions are arguably easier to wear—and, for now at least, likely easier to buy.
